Get to Know Us, TCS Rochester is 30 Years in the Making.

Twin City Security has been a leading private security firm for the past 30 years.  To commemorate this milestone we thought we’d share a little about our history, how we got to where we are today, and provide a 2020 update.

Back to the beginning, in 1973, Larry Shrider saw a need in the Twin Cities market for dependable private security services. The entrepreneurial-minded, Vietnam veteran, took his military training and started Twin City Security. As the business grew, it was clear the company's services would be useful elsewhere.

The Rochester & SE MN branch of Twin Cities Security you see today started in 1990.  Dean Mikel has been leading this branch for 30 years.  Dean has proven he was perfectly suited for the job with his background as a Special Agent with the US State Department and an MBA from Mankato State.

What started as a one-man show in a home office, has grown into a regional headquarters located in Stewartville and a full staff of security officers and an administrator.  The branch was created on the basis of building positive relationships with each client while providing tailored, solution-oriented security programs.  The SE MN crew services a large territory around the Rochester region stretching from Winona and Red Wing to Northfield, and southward to Austin and Albert Lea.

The local office has called Stewartville home all these years.  The office is currently located in the Professional Building, which sits conveniently on the corner of Main and Second Street.

While our office has fewer visitors today due to COVID-19, business has remained strong through the first half of 2020.  While we’ve managed numerous accounts over the years, guarding patients from the Federal Medical Center seeking medical care at local hospitals has kept many of our guards busy this year.  We also have officers dedicated to the temporary homeless shelter at Rochester’s Mayo Civic Center. Securing local construction sites, school campuses, and manufacturing sites are a few other spots you may run into a Twin City Security officer.  As our state re-opens we look forward to providing our services at local sporting events, festivals, and gatherings.

We’re proud of the local impact we’ve made over the last 30 years here in SE MN.  Many thanks to our dedicated staff and loyal customers.  As always, we’ll be here when you need us - we look forward to serving you in the future.
